TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions describe the rules applicable to anyone seeking accreditation, entry or access to Canada Olympic House (“COH” or the “Venue”) located at 30 Av. Corentin Cariou, 75019 Paris, France during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games (the “Games”), including the conduct and behavior expected from all visitors, staff, COC guests and other accredited persons at COH (individually referred to as a “Visitor” or “You/Your” and collectively referred to as “Visitors”).

The Canadian Olympic Committee (“COC”) may directly, or through its authorized security agents or personnel, revoke any accreditation, wristband or permission to access COH and eject or refuse entry to COH to any person for violation of these Terms and Conditions, applicable Venue rules, illegal activity, misconduct or failure to comply with any and all security measures and/or any other reasonable instructions of authorized COH officials. These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time by the COC and any accreditation, wristband or access pass will be subject to any such updated Terms and Conditions.

 

COH RULES:

By purchasing tickets for COH or entering COH, Visitors agree to the following:

  1. Visitors older than 12 years old must register online prior to entering COH. Infants under the age of two may enter for free.  Ticket purchases can be completed here: https://house.olympic.ca/.
  2. Visitors who are pre-registered by the COC and will check in on-site must present a piece of valid government issued photo ID which must match the information entered in the COH registration form.
  3. All Visitors who are younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult to enter COH.
  4. Visitors must respect all applicable laws, regulations, rules, customs applicable in Canada and in France, including but not limited to, laws governing the possession and use of drugs and alcohol including the rules around provision of alcohol to minors (note: in France, alcohol consumption is prohibited for individuals younger than 18 years old);
  5. Visitors must at all times, respect the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport and any other applicable COC Policies (available here: https://olympic.ca/canadian-olympic-committee/governance/policies/), and avoid any action or statement that is threatening, harassing, degrading, hateful, intimidating, violent, defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, indecent or otherwise objectionable;
  6. Comply with the policies, guidelines, and other requirements communicated in due course by the COC relating to security, safety and conduct;
  7. Avoid engaging in ambush marketing and/or unauthorized commercial activities in or around the Venue;
  8. Visitors must respect all rules and regulations applicable to the Venue which may be communicated and enforced separately by the Venue owner/operator;
  9. Visitors must respect all security measures formulated by COC for COH (including with respect to limited capacity, restricted zones, prohibited behaviors, evacuation orders and emergency procedures);
  10. Visitors must respect any restrictions or instructions regarding designated smoking areas in and around COH;
  11. Visitors must adopt a respectful and reasonable conduct so as to not bring the COC, Team Canada, COC partners, the Venue and/or any other Visitor into public disrepute or censure;
  12. Visitors must avoid causing any unreasonable disturbance or noise to other guests or meetings, whether at COH and/or around the Venue;
  13. Visitors must refrain from bringing or using any fireworks, smoke, fog machines, dry ice, confetti cannons, candles, incense, weapons, artificial noisemakers, containers of any kind and/or other dangerous items of any kind in and around COH;
  14. Visitors must refrain from bringing or consuming any food or drinks (except for water) from outside the Venue;
  15. Visitors must consume authorized food and beverages in designated areas of the Venue only and dispose of waste items where permitted; alcohol is not allowed to be taken outside;
  16. Visitors must respect and comply with any conditions communicated by the COC regarding taking any photos, videos or other recordings at COH and respect the image rights of any person in relation to any such photos, videos and/or recordings at COH;
  17. Visitors must respect all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines relating to gifting, including in particular the IOC Code of Ethics, the COC Code of Ethics (available here: https://olympic.ca/canadian-olympic-committee/governance/policies/) and/or any other laws, regulations, agreements, terms and/or conditions;
  18. Visitors are expected to dress appropriately; casual and sport attires are permitted while clothing with offensive or inappropriate designs or features will not be allowed;
  19. Visitors will respect the privacy of other Visitors at COH.
  20. Unless specifically authorized in advance by the COC, Visitors may not act in a journalist capacity at COH. In addition, no broadcast of the Games available at COH may be captured, copied, reproduced, distributed or otherwise used by any party without the prior written consent of the COC and/or the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/ Société Radio-Canada.
  21. Credits that are pre-loaded on COH wristbands are (i) exclusively for food/beverage purchases at COH during the Games only, (ii) may not be used for any other purposes and (iii) are non-refundable, non-transferable and may not be surrendered for cash.
  22. Accreditations, wristbands or other access passes may not be used for advertising, promotion (including contests or sweepstakes), or other trade or commercial purposes without the express written consent of the COC. Accreditations, wristbands and passes are issued personally and may not be exchanged, shared, transferred or otherwise provided to any third party without the prior written consent of the COC.

IMAGE USE

By entering COH and the Venue, Visitors consent to and authorize the use of any and all photographs, video, voice recordings or other media (hereafter collectively the “Images”) taken of any person during the course of visit(s) at COH by the COC, the Canadian Olympic Foundation, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation/Société Radio-Canada, or any of the COC’s marketing partner’s (see list here: https://olympic.ca/partners/ and hereafter collectively referred to as the “COC Partners”).

Visitors therefore authorize the aforementioned entities to use the Images in the context of each entities regular business activities, the promotion thereof (including without limitation, promoting the Games and COH), and/or for editorial purposes on any platform, including without limitation for television, print, digital and social media platforms as known today or as they may evolve, in perpetuity, without requiring further consent. For clarity, such Images will not be used for any commercial purpose by the COC Partners.

If the Images represent minors, the legal representatives of these children expressly authorize the aforementioned entities to use the Images under the conditions defined in this article.

 

PROCESSING OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

The Canadian Olympic Committee, acting as a data controller within the meaning of the GDPR, processes Your personal data to sell tickets to COH, to give You access to COH, to compile statistics on COH attendance or to promote the COC. The types of personal data collected from You may include Your name, email address and payment information.

Your personal data may be processed both by the COC and by its data processors, particularly those responsible for ticket sales.

Your personal data is processed by the COC for the purpose of administering Your visit to COH and to communicate with You about Your visit to COH (including after Your visit in order to gather Your feedback through an appreciation survey).

The collection of Your personal data is necessary for the provision of services which cannot be delivered without this information.

The COC will only process Your personal data if at least one of the following conditions is met:

  • Your consent to the processing operations has been obtained;
  • We have a legitimate interest in processing Your data;
  • The performance of a contract between us and You requires the processing of such data;
  • The COC is bound by legal and regulatory obligations that require the processing of personal data.

Where the processing of Your data is based on Your consent, You may withdraw this consent at any time.

The personal data collected is retained only for as long as is strictly necessary for the purposes for which it was collected.

For Your information, the main applicable retention periods are as follows:

Selling tickets, organising the visit and to collect Your feedback on COHMaximum 2 years after the visit
Statistics, data analysis and trend analysisMaximum 2 years after the visit
The promotion of the COH3 years from the last contact by the data subject

You may access Your personal data, rectify it, request that it be deleted or exercise Your right to limit the processing of Your data. You may also withdraw Your consent to the processing of Your data at any time or object to the processing of Your personal data.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Commission Nationale Informatique & Libertés (CNIL).

WAIVER, RELEASE, AND INDEMNIFICATION

The COC takes all appropriate precautions to ensure the smooth running of its services and to provide secure access to the COH. However, the COC cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from unforeseeable, insurmountable events beyond its control. By entering the Venue or purchasing tickets to COH, Visitors: (i) agree to waive and release the COC and its respective officers and directors, employees, consultants, volunteers and agents from any claims, demands, damages, actions or causes of action arising out of or in consequence of any loss, injury, or damage to Visitor’s image or property incurred as a Visitor of COH; (ii) agree to indemnify and hold harmless the COC, its officers and directors, employees, consultants, volunteers, agents and other members of the COC, from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorney fees) arising out of or in connection with Visitor’s non-compliance with these Terms and Conditions;

 

CHOICE OF LAW, JURIDICTION AND SEVERABILITY

Unless determined otherwise by a court of competent jurisdiction, these Terms and Conditions are subject to the laws of the province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein and You hereby irrevocably agree that the courts in the provinces of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction for any claim related to the application or interpretation of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of a dispute or claim, You should first contact the COC to obtain an amicable solution.

Should a court of competent jurisdiction determine that French courts have jurisdiction to hear a dispute or claim in relation to these Terms and Conditions and that French law applies, any provision of these Terms and Conditions which is held to be void or otherwise unenforceable, shall be deemed to be severed and shall not affect the enforceability of any other provision of these Terms and Conditions.

In such a case, in accordance with Article L612-1 of the French Consumer Code, all visitors have the right to have recourse free of charge to a consumer mediator with a view to the amicable resolution of any dispute between them and a professional. To this end, the COC guarantees visitors effective recourse to a consumer mediation scheme.

Pursuant to article R. 631-3 of the French Consumer Code, if the dispute persists, , the visitor may refer the matter either to one of the French courts with territorial jurisdiction under the French Code of Civil Procedure, or to the court of the place where he or she lived when the contract was concluded or when the harmful event occurred.
